Introducing Enhanced Incentives for AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP)

Jul 24, 2024 | Articles

The AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) has some exciting updates that went into effect on July 1, 2024. These enhancements are designed to help AWS Partners like you support customer migrations to the cloud more swiftly and on a larger scale.

Since its inception in 2016, the AWS MAP has been a pivotal element in supporting thousands of customers transitioning to Amazon Web Services (AWS). It’s a comprehensive program that aids in building strong AWS foundations, accelerating migrations, reducing risks, and mitigating initial migration costs.

What’s New in the MAP?

  • Streamlined Processes: We’ve simplified the funding structure and approvals to help shorten the sales cycle.
  • Scaled Funding: We’re expanding support for more migration opportunities with funding that increases with deal size, meaning larger incentives for larger deals.
  • Strategic Partner Incentives (SPIs): These incentives offer additional funding for Greenfield migrations, customers transitioning from VMware on-premises to AWS Native or hybrid cloud, and modernization opportunities.

A Growing Opportunity

The cloud transformation opportunity continues to grow, with IDC projecting end-user spending on cloud to reach $1.3 trillion by 2027. This presents a $543 billion incremental revenue opportunity. With 90%+ customer workloads still not on the cloud, establishing a migration practice is essential for expanding your services portfolio.

MAP funding is available to AWS Migration Competency Partners and partners at the Validated Stage. To leverage these new benefits and propel your business in cloud migration, start by checking out the AWS MAP Partner Funding Benefits Guide.

Cost Optimization

Issue: Small AWS deployment with little management oversight and a lack of cloud skills internal to the organization moving from traditional infrastructure to SaaS and cloud based solutions.

What we did

  1. AWS Audit
  2. Cost Optimization Review
  3. Ongoing Monitoring

Result:

  • Eliminated unused storage volumes and the old application server no longer in use, the charges for AWS resulted in a savings of 51% per month.
  • We’ll continue to monitor AWS billing and finance to ensure maintenance of savings and identify other future changes.
